In the biggest game of the season so far for Vanderbilt, the Commodores easily handled the 8th ranked Aggies of Texas A&M 77-60 at Memorial Gymnasium before a late-arriving crowd of 10, 432. The Commodores came out smoking hot opening up a 13 point lead at 14-1, squandered the early advantage falling behind 28-24 at 6:51 in the 1st, only to retake the lead and pace the Aggies 40-33 at the half. Vandy was never really in trouble in the 2nd half opening up a 19-point lead 77-58 with 1:25 remaining and went on to win 77-60. Vandy’s Jeff Roberson led all scores with 20 points, while teammates Wade Baldwin IV had 17, Luke Kornet added 14, and Damian Jones netted 13 and grabbed 10 boards for the double-double.
Tonny Trocha-Morelos led the Aggies with 13 points.
The Commodores held the Aggies Jalen Jones to only 4 points after coming in to the game averaging 16.8 points/game, and Danuel House was limited to 10 points while averaging 16.0 points/game.
The Commodores improve to 6-4 in SEC play while the 1st place Aggies drop to 7-3.
