Brentwood Academy easily dispatched with McCallie 70-51 in the first of Friday’s semi-final game in the TSSAA DII-AA Boys Tournament held at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University, and Ensworth had no trouble with Christian Brothers, sending them back to Memphis with a convincing 60-46 win in the other semi-final game.
BA was led by Jeremiah Oatsvall with 20 points, while Parker Suedekum added 15, and Mr. Basketball Finalist Darius Garland netted 12 points for the Eagles.
BA was little slow out of the gate, falling behind 8-5, but they quickly regained their form and led 18-10 after the 1st qtr, and, 32-24 at the half, 48-36 after 3, and
cruised on in with the 70-51 victory.
Ensworth opened up the game well leading 14-7 after 1, 28-20 at the half, 38-31 after 3, and went on to win easily 60-46.
The Tigers were led by Mr. Basketball Finalist Jordan Bone with 24 points, while Desmond Cambridge threw in a smooth 16 points.
William Douglas, the other Mr. Basketball Finalist led CBHS with 20 points.
So the stage is set for what should be a great ball game. The two teams split their regular season games, each winning at home, with BA prevailing 55-53 in the first game, and Ensworth winning 63-55 in the second game.
Each team is seeking their 6th basketball state championship. BA beat CBHS to win last year, and Ensworth won in 2014, beating MUS.
Both schools bring a great fan base, so expect to be on the edge of your seat. Saturday, March 5th @ 7:30 PM at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena.
