The Nashville Predators defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in game 7 on the road to advance to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cop Playoffs. The Predators will next face the San Jose Sharks. Game 1 of that series begins Friday in San Jose at 9:30 CT.

The Predators started the game strongly, getting ahead 2-0 in the 1st period on goals from Colin Wilson and Paul Gaustad. From there on the Predators were on the defensive for most of the rest of the game. The Predators outshot the Ducks 10-9 in the 1st, but managed only 10 shots the rest of the game. The Ducks finished with 37 shots to the Predators 20. The Ducks were also more physical getting 38 hits to the Predators 19. But the Predators were better defensively getting 24 blocked shots and killed off key penalties throughout the game. Pekka Rinne was spectacular stopping 36 of the 37 Ducks shots.
