The Nashville Predators defeated the Calgary Flames 3-1 at Bridgestone Arena Thursday night in a game with playoff implications. The win closed the gap between the Preds and the Flames for the top wild-card spot, and the Preds also maintained their tie with St. Louis in the Central Division.

The teams skated to a 0-0 tie after 1, but goals by Nashville’s Calle Jarnkrok (15)  and Colton Sissons(6)put the Preds up 2-0 in the 2nd. The Flames got on the board late in the 2nd to cut the Preds’ lead to 2-1 after 2. Ryan Ellis notched his 15th goal of the year in the 3rd to give the Predators a 3-1 cushion, and Pekka Rinne finished strong to hold off the Flames the rest of the way. Rinne finished with 24 saves on 25 attempts.
