The Nashville Predators completed their total domination of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1st Round of Stanley Cup Play with a 4-1 beatdown to complete the four game sweep. It is the Predators first sweep in the playoffs in franchise history. The Predators will now face the winner of the St. Louis/Minnesota series. The Blues lead the Wild 3-1.
After a scoreless 1st period, Nashville got on the board 9:41 into the 2nd when a shot by defenseman Roman Josi trickled between the legs of Chicago goalie Corey Crawford and Nashville led 1-0 after 2 periods of play.
Nashville scored 8:52 into the 3rd with a goal by Colton Sissons and hen again got a score from Roman Josi to put the Preds up 3-0 with 9:39 remaining in the game. Chicago finally broke through against Predators goalie Pekka Rinne with a power play goal by Jonathan Toews to cut the Nashville lead to 3-1 with 5:18 remaining. Viktor Arvidsson completed the scoring and ended Chicago’s season with an empty net goal 1:48 remaining.
Pekka Rinne again was amazing stopping 30 of 31 shots.
