TSSAA DII-AA Pentathlon/Decathlon Champions Decided
Brentwood, TN
The TSSAA DII-AA Decathlon and Pentathlon took place Wednesday and Thursday at Brentwood Academy. 25 boys from across the state competed in the decathlon over two days time to determine who is the state’s greatest athlete in their division, while 27 girls competed in the pentathlon on Thursday. Sam Fisher, of Lipscomb Academy, defended his title in the decathlon, and Ellie Culbreath of the Baylor School, repeated as the pentathlon champion.
For the boys, Sammy Taylor (Ensworth) was runner-up, and Garner Ezell (Lipscomb) finished in 3rd place.
For the girls, Cassie Callis (Lipscomb) was runner-up, and Sarah Reynolds (Harpeth Hall) finished in 3rd place.


The boys began their competition on Wednesday with the 100-meter dash, followed by the high jump, then the shot put, then the long jump, and they finished the first day with the 400-meter run.
Thursday’s action began with the 110-meter hurdles, then the pole vault, then the discus, followed by the triple jump, and concluded with the grueling 1500-meter run.
The girls took part in the 5 events of the pentathlon beginning with the 100-meter hurdles, then the high jump, then the shot put, followed by the long jump, and the athletes finished with the 800-meter run.
